FKJGP concerned over high priced essential commodities

JOWAI: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia and Garo People (FKJGP), Khliehriat Circle has appealed to all the shopkeepers in Ladrymbai and Khliehriat area to stop the practice of fixing prices of goods at their own whims and fancies.

Speaking to The Shillong Times, the FKJGP Khliehriat Circle President, Kyrshan Blah informed that Shopkeepers and agents have been selling the essential commodities including rice and dal and even fish at prices much higher than their MRPs and prices fixed government rates. The FKJGP has also informed that some shops have been selling expired goods.

In this regard a team of FKJGP activists met with the East Jaintia Hills Additional Deputy Commissioner, CS Laloo to apprise him of the illegal practices by shopkeepers, “In a meeting with the ADC, we had requested him to instruct the Inspector of Supply Department to personally conducted a check drive in Ladrymbai and Khliehriat areas”, Blah said.

The FKJGP has also requested the Deputy Commissioner, East Jaintia hills to issue strick orders to all shopkeepers instructing them to display price board of all essential commodities.
