SHILLONG, May 13: After Opposition chief whip, PT Sawkmie, now former home minister, RG Lyngdoh, has slammed the state government over its plans of spending on prefab structures, which will be used as COVID centres.
Lyngdoh said that the government’s decision of spending on prefabricated structures seems to be a knee-jerk reaction.
He said there are presently unused government infrastructures such as stadia, hotels, school buildings that can be utilised as COVID-19 centres.
He opined that the money saved can be used to upgrade the health infrastructure in the districts and sub-divisional headquarters, which will lessen the strain on hospitals in Shillong.
