SHILLONG, May 13: Meghalaya state unit of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has invoked Education Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui, to provide a concession of 25 per cent in school and college fees to students, especially the ones from the underprivileged background, to tide over the COVID-19-induced crisis.
In a letter to Rymbui, the Union also acknowledged the efforts of the government in combating the pandemic.
Stating that the lockdown, which is in place, has hit people, especially those who belong to lower strata of society, and even discouraged many students from continuing their education, the NSUI said that cutting down school and college fees by 25 per cent will not only help the students monetarily but also give them the encouragement that they need.
