JOWAI: In a new political development in Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC), move is afoot to replace Chief Executive Member Lamdibok Sumer with Khliehtyrshi MDC Modanbai Rymbai.
According to sources, Rymbai has the support of seven Congress MDCs, while Sumer enjoys the support of 12 members.
Eight other Congress MDCs gave a slip to two secret meetings convened separately by Sumer and Rymbai at MDC’s guesthouse and Orchid Inn respectively on Wednesday, sources said.
Former JHADC chief Hambertus Nongtdu, Arborhima Darnei, Thombor Shiwat, Sunday Morning Suna, C Biam, Hillarius Dkhar and Stephen Mukhim are in the camp led by Rymbai. “This group is planning to move a no-trust motion against Sumer during the Winter Session of the JHADC scheduled for November 16,” sources said.
