India U-21 enter hockey final

Johor Bahru (Malaysia): Indian hockey’s junior men’s team entered the final of second Sultan of Johar Cup here as they beat New Zealand 3-1 in their fourth league match played here on Thursday.

Mandeep Singh got the ball rolling with his goal in the 19th minute when his shot from the right beat goalkeeper Richard Joyce.

In the 27th minute Harjeet Singh found the target for India while skipper Manpreet Singh scored in the 34th minute putting 3-0 on board till half-time.

India remain the only undefeated team in the competition so far with ten points from four games.

Before playing the final on Sunday, India will meet Malaysia in their last league match on Saturday. (IANS)
