TURA: BSF personnel are suspected to have deliberately hampered police investigation in connection with a major accident that took place at Goeragre, 14 kms from Tura, involving the official vehicle of a Commandant that collided with a motorcycle causing the death of one civilian on Thursday.

The Commandant of 114 Battalion of the BSF headquartered at Danakgre area of Tura, AK Ekka, was travelling to Shillong on Thursday afternoon in his official gypsy (AS-01-AB 9874) when his vehicle collided head on with two persons on a motorcycle (ML08 A 0163) close to the second gate of the 2nd MLP Batalion headquarters at Goeragre.

When police arrived on the scene they found that the BSF vehicle had already been removed from the collision point and kept at a safe distance.

In the meantime the driver of the motorcycle, Niarson R Marak died from his injuries while his pillion rider Nolindro Ch Marak sustained severe injuries including a broken leg.

The drivers and personnel of the border force have previously been accused of covering up other cases such as the illegal felling of trees from Baghmara reserve forest despite photographic and eye witness evidence some months ago.
