SHILLONG: The elders of the Madanriting Dorbar Shnong along with the leaders of the FKJGP on Monday asked the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) to de-recognize all those organizations run by non-tribals following their recent findings which involved issuance of fake birth certificates to illegal migrants by the Relief and Rehabilitation Colony Welfare Society (RRCWS) at Rynjah.

Apprising the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC of their findings here, the leaders of FKJGP Nongthymmai Circle said that they got hold of one certificate issued by the leader of the Society who claimed to be the headman, to one Sawvik Deb, which indicates that Deb was born at Ganesh Das Hospital with his parents being residents of R&R Colony, Rynjah.

Elaborating on the findings, FKJGP Nongthymmai Circle president, Wankmenlang Tariang said that they have apprised the officials of the District Health and Medical Officer (DMHO) of the matter who clarified that the birth certificates are issued only by Health Department through the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB).

“We have also given time to the DMHO to search for the name of Sawvik Deb and to ascertain the exact place of birth and the name of the doctor who treated him,” Tariang said.

The FKJGP also said that after going through the birth certificate issued by the RRCWS, it was found that the details were copied exactly from the birth certificate form (Form-9) issued by the Shillong Municipal Board (SMB) with all minute details intact including the tag line, certificate of birth (issued under the Registration of Birth and Death Act, 1969).

The Dorbar Shnong and the FKJGP also expressed surprise over the lack of verification on the part of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in such cases where a person producing fake birth certificate gets a chance to enroll for the Election Photo Identity Card (EPIC).

The FKJGP leader, later, informed that the KHADC CEM has assured to follow-up the case.
