EKH Fire dept staff dies in road mishap

NONGPOH, May 31: An employee of the Fire and Emergency Services, East Khasi Hills, died in a road accident on Umroi Bypass on Monday.
The man, identified as Laurence Biam, was en route to Bhoirymbong from Shillong when he reportedly lost control of his speeding car (ML 05 P 6266) and collided head-on with a truck (NL 01 AB 4737) coming from the opposite side at Khapmara, Umroi Bypass.
Sources said that the accident happened at around 5:30 pm. After the accident, the car was badly damaged and the driver succumbed to his injuries.
