NONGSTOIN: 74 members of the zonal and primary units of the Congress party of the 33-Rambrai Jyrngam Assembly Constituency have written a petition to the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) extending their support to JTS Thongni for the Congress ticket from the constituency.

The petition stated that the members of the Rambrai Jyrngam Block Congress Committee (RJBCC) had, as per the guidelines of the MPCC, conducted an election in a general meeting held on September 29 in the presence of MPCC observers wherein Thongni secured the maximum votes from among four aspirants.

The petition also stated that Thongni not only enjoys the support of the Block Congress members but also the support of the local people.

The RJBCC petition also mentioned that they condemned all rumours which said that the party would lose the election if the ticket was awarded to Thongni.

The RJBCC also mentioned that Thongni was the founder of the Congress in the 33-Rambrai Jyrngam Assembly Constituency and he deserved to get the party ticket on the basis of the work done by him in the constituency.
