New police establishments on the cards

SHILLONG, June 4: The Home department is currently carrying out a study on creating new police outposts, stations and battalions in Meghalaya.
Informing this, Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday said that the government will soon cough up Rs 100 crore to revamp infrastructure in police outposts, stations and battalions in the state. He said the Home department has been asked to identify and recommend areas that require outposts, police stations and battalions in state. The report will be finalised by next week after which the locations of the new infrastructure will be decided. In two-three months, the work for the new infrastructures will also start, the chief minister said.
