TURA, June 6: The Pedaldoba Regional Unit of the Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) has urged Chief Minister Conrad Sangma to look into the problems being faced by the personnel manning the Rongsai Police Outpost under Raksamgre Civil Sub-Division and sought the sanctioning of a permanent building for the staff.
In their letter to Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Rimjen Ch Sangma, chairman of the organisation, said that the employees were facing problems as they do not have a permanent building and are currently housed at the Pedaldoba Secondary School building since 2012-13.
Sangma added that in their present accommodation, there were not enough rooms for the staff, no kitchen for cooking, no potable drinking water or toilets for them to use besides other requirements. The committee claimed that the construction of a building for the outpost in the department’s own land at Kurung Saltop near the interstate border with Assam has already been sanctioned some years ago but no construction has taken place at the site.
Stating that the staff are kept busy round the clock in view of their posting being near the interstate border, the organisation called upon the chief minister to look into the matter and take steps to construct a permanent building at the earliest.
