Apropos to the news item “Concern over gap in youth population and available jobs”, the Directorate of Employment & Craftsmen Training, Labour Department, Shillong has clarified that M. S. Rao, the Principal Secretary, Labour Department had said that about 12 New Vocational Training Providers are in the process of being registered under the Skill Development Initiative (SDI) Scheme with about 173 New Modular Employable Skills (MES) Courses which will help in providing the youth with the requisite skills for jobs in the Private & Unorganized Sector and reduce dependence on Government jobs which are almost saturated.
