RIO DE JANEIRO, June 15: Diego Maradona’s life was honored in a tribute featuring lights and projections onto the pitch before Argentina’s Copa America opener against Chile. Maradona died at age 60 last November. The 3-minute video, which was shared by CONMEBOL’s social media channels, had “Live is Life” by Opus as its soundtrack, the same song that was on as Maradona famously warmed up with Napoli ahead of a UEFA Cup semifinal against Bayern Munich in 1989. “We are paying our respects to one of the greatest players in history,” CONMEBOL said in a statement. The video tribute was initially expected to take place in Argentina. (AP)
