Umsning Cong workers threaten to resign

NONGPOH: After Umroi, the on-going dissent in Congress over allotment of poll tickets has spread to Umsning.

Over thousand of Congress workers, including members from the Mahila Congress Committee and Youth Congress, on Wednesday threatened to resign en masse if the party allots ticket to the sitting Nongpoh MDC Dr Celestine Lyngdoh instead of Donlang Sohkhlet to contest the upcoming Assembly polls from this newly-created constituency.

Two other Congress ticket aspirants for this constituency are the sitting MLA from Rymbai in Jaintia Hills Nehlang Lyngdoh and Umsning Block Congress Committee president Dipul Ryntathiang.

Sohkhlet enjoys support of the people from all sections of the society including Congress workers. The press not lambasted the Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee chief DD Lapang for favouring candidature of Dr Lyngdoh.
