Avoid corruption, CM tells new MCS officers

 SHILLONG: Asking the government officials to avoid corruption, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma has said the menace of corruption is the main hindrance towards effective governance

Addressing the valedictory programme of the induction training of Meghalaya Civil Service (MCS) officers, 2012 batch here on Thursday, Dr Sangma said, “There is no room to indulge in corruption.”

“Beware and be alert, your every action is subjected to scrutiny,” he told the group 29 new MCS officers.

He pointed out only sincere and honest officers can serve the state and its people better. He urged them to handle issues pertaining to governess in a transparent manner. “Our endeavour should be to enlighten people about the various government policies and schemes, get people involved and create an atmosphere for better governance,” he said.

The state Chief Secretary WMS Pariat and other senior government officials were present on the occasion.

The group of 29 MCS officers has completed a six-month-long skill and knowledge development course under Meghalaya Administrative Training Institute.

Prize and certificates were also given to the best performers in different categories in the course of the training.

It may be mentioned that the best probationer award was bagged by Mark Anderson Chalam and highest mark was secured BY Raja Brahma.
