SHILLONG, July 6: Amid anticipation of AL Hek taking over as the new president of State BJP, former minister and party leader, Dr KC Boro, has asserted that leaderships from Garo Hills will support Hek as the party chief.
While supporting the statement of Banshailang Khongwir, general secretary of the State BJP, Dr Boro said that most of the party leaders from Garo Hills region are also looking forward to a change, adding that they would even welcome a possible decision of the BJP central leadership to hand over presidentship to AL Hek. “We want the party to grow in Meghalaya and for which AL Hek has to replace Ernest Mawrie as president,” he said, adding that the move will boost the party for the 2023 Assembly elections.
“We are hopeful that under the leadership of Hek as the President of the party, and Sanbor Shullai, the BJP will win good number of seats and will form the government in 2023,” the BJP leader said.
Claiming that he has spoken to almost all BJP leaders across Garo Hills, Boro stated that they are happy with AL Hek becoming the new president.
Nomination
Meanwhile, the State BJP president, Ernest Mawrie, has nominated Justice Syiem as state president of BJP Kisan Morcha for the term 2020-2023.
