SHILLONG, July 22: A few MLAs are seeking tickets from the BJP to contest the 2023 Assembly polls, Health Minister Alexander L. Hek said on Thursday.
“At least four sitting legislators have approached me, but it is too early to share the (party’s) strategy,” he said, without revealing further details.
Hek, one of two BJP legislators in Meghalaya, said the party will strike at the right time and at the right place.
Pointing out that the BJP could only win two seats in the 2018 polls despite campaigns by several top leaders, he said: “We have to focus on the local strategy that matters more in Meghalaya’s political landscape.”
Hek said keeping internal politics in check and working out a proper strategy would be crucial for the party to reach its goal. “If this happens, we can win not less than 10 seats,” he added.
