SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong Rynjah on Monday expressed disappointment over the issue of certificates by the local committee of the Relief and Rehabilitation (RR) Colony, Rynjah, while alleging that this act was an insult to the authority of the Village Council.

Headman of Rynjah, CK Passi, on Monday said that certificates issued by the committee of RR colony have on many occasions been accepted by both the District Council and the office of the Deputy Commissioner and shockingly, they have even issued a license to someone to operate a wine store in the locality.

Passi also informed that the RR Colony had even changed the name of the colony to Tirot Sing Colony a few years back, however, on the intervention by the Rynjah Village Council which approached the District Council and the office of the Deputy Commissioner with the issue, the name was changed back to RR Colony.

Passi further informed that following this incident, the Colony’s Welfare Society filed a case against the District Council, DC office and the Village Council of Rynjah stating that RR colony should not be under the jurisdiction of Rynjah Village Council and the case is still pending.
