SHILLONG: The KSU and the FKJGP on Tuesday unanimously resolved to continue their demand for making Khasi a compulsory subject in schools across the State.

Speaking to reporters after a function to commemorate the 72nd death anniversary of legendary Khasi poet U Soso Tham at the State Central Library premises, KSU president Daniel Khyriem said that the demand is being pursued with the sole objective of preserving the Khasi language. FKJGP president Joe Marwein expressed his concern on the declining number of students opting for Khasi language in schools. “We would meet the concerned government officials soon to press our demand,” he said.
