State takes up GNLA leader’s arrest with Centre

SHILLONG: The State Government has apprised New Delhi about the arrest of self-styled foreign secretary of the GNLA, Briansim Marak alias Bikdot Nikjang, who is presently lodged in a Bangladesh jail.

It was on Friday night that the Bangladesh police arrested the GNLA leader and subsequently placed him under judicial custody.

A police source said on Tuesday that the State Government informed the Centre about the arrest of the militant so that it could up take with Bangladesh authorities for his early handover to the BSF.

“There are a lot of pending cases against him and we want to get him in our custody for interrogation,” the source added.
