SHILLONG: The State Assembly Speaker Charles Pyngrope on Wednesday fixed January 2 next as the last day for the submission of views by the 11 ‘defected’ NCP legislators after rejecting their demand for more time for the reply.

The Speaker declined to give more time beyond January 2, which is the next working day after the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

The Speaker had sought the views of the defected legislators after the NCP legislator Sanbor Shullai, who is also the Deputy Speaker, lodged a complaint seeking disqualification of the defected legislators.

Though the NCP defectors had claimed that they merged with the NPP, they are yet to submit any official document pertaining to the merger to the Speaker.
