Census on housing conditions presented

 SHILLONG: The Joint Director of Census Operations, Meghalaya, Debesh Roy on Thursday presented the Housing Conditions of Meghalaya in general as well as in respect of SC and ST residents of the state at a workshop on Data Dissemination Census 2011 entitled “Meghalaya in Transition – An Insight from Census 2011 Data” organized in the city.

The official during the presentation said that the use of thatch, grass and bamboo roof and walls by people in the districts of the state has significantly reduced which is paving way for concrete walls and comparatively improved the conditions of the house in the state from 41.3 percent in 2001 to 48.1 percent in 2011.
