SHILLONG: The sufferings of the Delhi rape victim and protest of people in the national capital were mentioned during services in some churches in Shillong on Monday night.

The intention was to pray for the victim and also to spread the message of peace and non-violence.

A priest in his introductory address at Grotto Chapel, Laitumkhrah during the vigil mass on Monday night said that while Shillong is silent, there are voices of protest in Delhi over the incident of rape, which according to him calls for refection and prayer for peace.

However, the priest forgot to mention a similar incident of sufferings of 18-year-old girl from Williamnagar, who was raped by as many as 16 boys mostly juveniles.
