Digital marketplace launched
SHILLONG, Aug 24: The Shillong Market, in association with E Samudaay, a soft service provider, launched a digital marketplace in the city on Tuesday. This is an initiative to build networks of independent, self-sustained digital local marketplaces, managed by local entrepreneurs, which will, in turn, help create and retain value within the local community, a statement issued here said. “These locally owned digital marketplaces will serve communities, spark local production, grassroots innovations and utilise local talent,” it added. The chief guest of the virtual inauguration of the marketplace was Congress MLA Ampareen Lyngdoh. The Shillong market e-Samudaay is pioneered by two women entrepreneurs —Evarihun Warjri and Medarisha Lyngdoh. The initiative aims to provide opportunity in taking control of the digital local landscape and provide a ready market for budding entrepreneurs in the state, and also aims to bridge local products to the national market and vice versa. The future plan of this venture is also to integrate service and mobility modules in the app.

JH groups to hold peace rally
JOWAI, Aug 24: Several Jaintia Hills-based groups, including the JSU, KSU, HYC, JYF, JSM, MPUF, EJNC, under the banner of ‘Ka Sur ki Nong Jaintia’ has decided to hold a peace rally on Thursday to protest against the killing of former HNLC general secretary Cheristerfield Thangkhiew. The peace rally will start from Kiang Nangbah Monument, Khliehriat, and will conclude at Jowai with a public meeting.

MLA donates chairs, tables
SHILLONG, Aug 24: In a bid to boost the vaccination campaign in the state, public utility chairs and tables were provided to various organisations in South Shillong constituency that are rendering voluntary service in assisting the vaccination drive in their localities. The items were donated by local MLA Sanbor Shullai on August 22 as a token of appreciation as part of the Raksha Bandhan celebration, a statement issued here said. The MLA stated that he will continue to assist various organisations in his constituency.
