TURA, Aug 24: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma has exhorted the youths to take full advantage of Meghalaya’s rich natural resources and take up their own businesses.
Stating that rich natural resources here can be harnessed through entrepreneurship, the chief minister also assured government’s commitment towards promoting entrepreneurs and creating an enabling environment of a plethora of opportunities.
Conrad was speaking at the graduation ceremony of Cohort-1 entrepreneurs and on-boarding ceremony of Cohort-2 entrepreneurs, selected under CM’s E-Championship, at Tree House resort in Tura.
During the programme, Conrad said that through E-Championship, the government has been able to bring to the fore passionate youths who are keen to pursue careers in entrepreneurship.
He informed that the government has been successful in uncovering the potential and skills of young people through the programme, empowering them to take on the challenge of entrepreneurship. “We have conceptualised the E-Championship Challenge to provide a platform for our entrepreneurs who have the passion but due to lack of opportunities, were unable to upscale their business entities. Through this programme, we have identified the best business ideas and have helped them to upscale their venture. We are providing mentorship and incubation to enable them to take a new leap in their entrepreneurial journey,” he said.
During the event, two noted entrepreneurs from Assam — Bhanu Pratap from Northeast Farm Sales Promotion and Ranjith Baruah from Aromica Tea — shared their experiences on their entrepreneurial journey where they highlighted the importance of right packaging and marketing.
The entrepreneurs from CM’s E-Championship 2020 batch Cohort -1 also shared their experiences during the conclave and expressed their gratitude to the state government.
The graduates, during the conclave, were also conferred with E-Championships Award by the chief minister.
