‘Chandubi’ Festival begins

Rangiya (Assam): ‘Chandubi’ Festival, which aims to promote the bio-diversity and ecology of the south Kamrup area of Assam, got underway today at Chandubi near here.

The festival, to continue till January 5, will witness cultural shows, exhibition of ethnic crafts, boat rides at the historic Chandubi lake, food festival of the Rabha community, besides discussions on preservation of the local environment.

Assam Tourism Principal Secretary H S Das and Kamrup Rural Deputy Commissioner S K Roy attended the inaugural event.

This is the third consecutive year of the festival which began with the intiative of the All Rabha Students’ Union, Rabha Women’s Forum and other organisations.

The festival this year is also being organised with the motto of a ‘Plastic Free Environmen
