Work on dilapidated road contents locals

NONGSTOIN, Sep 7: The construction work on 7-km road from Sohpian to Nongstoin under NH-44E, which was sanctioned for Rs eight crore by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) through the PWD, is now set in motion, much to the contentment of the locals.
It may be mentioned that the road holds significance for the locals as it connects Nongstoin to the National Highway. With the revamp work now initiated, a ray of hope of having a better road connectivity has been kindled among the people of Nongstoin.
Alfred Myrthong, president of Nongstoin Regional Local Taxi Owner and Drivers’ Association, expressed his contentment to see the commencement of the work on the road project. He hopes that once the road is up and running, it will greatly benefit the people of Nongstoin.
He also gave the thumbs up to the efforts of Nongstoin MLA Macmillan Byrsat for his intervention.
On the other hand, Pyndenglawar village headman, K Nongsiej, recalled how the road was in a dilapidated condition and needed immediate repair. He also expressed gratitude to the government and Nongstoin MLA for ensuring that the construction work on the road project saw the light of the day.
The village headman also hopes that the road construction work will be done properly.
