City college inks pact with oil Co for research project

SHILLONG, Sep 10: A memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed between St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, and Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL), an oil company based in Assam, for a research project on Friday.
The research project will be conducted by the Department of Biotechnology and Department of Chemistry of St. Edmund’s College, under a Principal Investigator (PI) and Co-Principal Investigator on oil sludge in NRL.
The MoA was signed by Secretary, governing body of St. Edmund’s College, Br. Raj Mario Noronha, on behalf of the college and NRL General Manager, Ghanashyam Hazarika, on behalf of Numaligarh Refinery Limited.
College Principal Dr. Sylvanus Lamare, Company Secretary, NRL, Chiranjeev Sharma, a team from NRL among others were present during the signing of the agreement.
The project will be carried out for a period of three years.
With this project, St. Edmund’s College, Shillong, becomes the third institute to partake in a research project with NRL.
