TURA, Sep 19: The Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) from Pedaldoba in West Garo Hills has sought immediate appointment of an assistant doctor at the Pedaldoba Primary Health Centre (PHC).
In an appeal to Health and Family Welfare Minister James K Sangma, the committee pointed out that the health centre has been catering to a large population with only a single doctor stationed at the centre.
The committee added that the workload on the sole doctor to shoulder was too much during the current situation arising out of the Covid-19 pandemic and urged that an additional doctor be appointed at the earliest.
“The sole doctor is functioning round the clock which is affecting the services provided to the people of the area. We urge you to look into our appeal so that the existing doctor can be relieved of some of his duties,” the committee said.
