SHILLONG: Personnel of the 4th MLP Battalion deployed in New Delhi have been continually suffering there without getting the recall order despite completing their two-year posting in the national capital.
The 4th MLP Battalion, which had assumed its duty of guarding VVIPs in Delhi in August 2010, was supposed to return back to the State in September 2012.
During his visit to New Delhi during the early part of last year, Additional DGP BL Buam had assured that he would ensure that the personnel of the MLP 4th Battalion are shifted back to the State within August.
“But sadly the promise made by the senior police official has not turned into reality. The police personnel have been compelled to continue to suffer by prolonging their duties in the national capital,” sources informed here on Tuesday.
According to the sources, the police personnel have not got their monthly ration money for the past several months which have put them into lots of difficulties.
The sources also informed that majority of the personnel of the 4th MLP Battalion have threatened to leave their duties in the national capital if the Government does pay any heed to their suffering.
