SHILLONG: Senior UDP leader Malcolm Tariang on Monday hinted that he might contest the 2013 Assembly election as an Independent after he resigned from the primary membership of the UDP citing personal reasons.
“We are working on it,” he said when asked about his plans for the elections.
According to Tariang, his frontline supporters would hold a meeting before deciding the next course of action. “If I decide to contest I will do so as an Independent,” he said.
If Tariang jumps into the election arena, the Laitumkhrah constituency would witness a triangular contest among Tariang, senior UDP leader Bindo M Lanong and Congress leader Ampareen Lyngdoh.
