NPCC demands probe

KOHIMA: The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) demanded an inquiry into the case where a state police constable, along with two other accomplices, was caught and detained at Kolkata Airport carrying Rs 92 lakh in cash en-route Bangalore on July 8.A press note issued here on Wednesday by the NPCC media cell said since the amount was quite large, it could not be ignored or brushed aside. It pointed out the money could have been easily encashed using internet banking here in the state itself and transferred using NEFT or RTGS facility.The opposition Congress said the home department, especially the police headquarters, would have to thoroughly probe the incident and clarify the source of the money, the intended beneficiary, role of the constable.
