SHILLONG: The Civil Society Women’s Organisation (CSWO) and Meghalaya Right To Information Movement (MRTIM) on Wednesday asked the State Police to act on the FIR lodged by social activists against Education Minister Ampareen Lyngdoh and other MLAs and bureaucrats in relation to the anomalies in the appointment of primary teachers in the State.
“Meghalaya Police should stop protecting corrupt criminals and immediately fast track the investigation and file the charge sheet against them,” CSWO president Agnes Kharshiing said adding that arbitrary dereliction of duty on the part of the police will force them to take further action including legal remedies against them individually.
Citing a similar case in Haryana where former Chief Minister Om Prakash Chautala and others have been arrested for their involvement in illegal appointment of school teachers in the state, Kharshiing said, “We demand that Ampareen Lyngdoh and other politicians namely Sanbor Shullai, AL Hek, Charles Pyngrope and Prestone Tynsong who made corrupt recommendations for undeserving candidates, and other bureaucrats of the Education Department, all of whom have indulged in the act should be treated in the same way.”
