Late Captain Sangma remembered in Tura

TURA, Oct 25: The 31st Death Anniversary of Meghalaya’s first Chief Minister late Captain Williamson A Sangma was observed on Monday at the Premises of the Garo Hills Autonomous Council (GHADC) in Tura.

A special function to remember the late leader was organized as usual at the premises of the Garo Hills Autonomous District Council (GHADC) where GHADC CEM Benedic Marak, Chairman Rakesh A Sangma and other members participated.

During the meeting, speakers recollected the works and contributions of late Captain Sangma and paid rich tributes to the late leader at his cenotaph erected for the purpose. The gathering also observed a short moment in Prayer for the soul of the lost leader. In memory of the late leader and to honour his contributions to the region and the state in general, the gathering led by CEM Benedic Marak placed wreaths and bouquets at his cenotaph erected at the William Point in Hawakhana.

The gathering led by the dignitaries also visited the Captain Sangma Museum and also met the family members of Late Captain Sangma at his residence.

Meanwhile, the occasion was also observed at the late leader’s birth place in Baghmara of South Garo Hills.
