JOWAI: Jaintia Hills Police on Thursday nabbed a senior cadre of the HNLC at Iawmusiang. The arrested cadre, Phyrnai Swer, holds the rank of a lieutenant in the proscribed outfit. He was arrested from his wife’s residence. With a day to go for the R-day celebrations in the country, the arrest of the HNLC member assumes significance. Sources informed that the police received information that around 10 to 15 HNLC cadres recently crossed over to India from Muktapur area of Bangladesh with an aim to disrupt the Republic Day celebrations in the State. The HNLC has already called for a bandh on Saturday.
