SHILLONG, Nov 5: The phone numbers that have been used to solicit money from aspirants for their successful results in the recently concluded MTET examinations are from outside, police said on Friday.
Informing that no arrests have been made so far in this connection, police officials, however, said that a case has been registered and investigation is under way to ascertain how the scamsters got hold of the candidates’ details.
The issue came to light after the Director of Educational Research and Training filed a complaint with Laitumkhrah Police Station, alleging that select MTET candidates had received calls where they were offered successful results in the MTET examination in exchange of a handsome sum of money.
As per the FIR, phone calls have been made from at least six numbers.
The MTET examination was held across Meghalaya on October 9 which saw an attendance of over 90 per cent across all the venues.
The results of the aforesaid examination are expected to be declared by December.
