SHILLONG: Two suspected GNLA cadres were lynched by an angry mob in South West Khasi Hills on Saturday.

According to police, the cadres, who had demanded money from the coal quarry at a village in Nongkyllem in South West Khasi Hills were attacked by an irate mob including the coal labourers.

A police official said that people of the area were fed up with the constant extortion being carried out by the GNLA. One of the militants has been identified as Holy Sangma.

In the past, the GNLA had targeted those who had worked at the coal quarries and those who manned the toll gates.

According to reports, it was due to the frustration of the people affected by the harassment of the militants that the mob was forced to take law into their hands.
