Cabinet okays Rs 105 cr corpus Contingency Fund

 SHILLONG: The State Cabinet, which met here on Monday for the last time before the Assembly elections scheduled for February 23, approved Rs 105 crore corpus Contingency Fund.

The approval was made to ensure that there is no disruption of fund flow to the various departments while the State Assembly is not in session.

Talking to media persons after the Cabinet meeting which lasted for less than 15 minutes, Chief Minister Dr Mukul Sangma said, “The Finance Department felt that corpus for contingency fund should be raised.”

“The departments which need to proceed with their programmes and require access to the normal fund flow will get required money from this contingency fund in advance,” Dr Sangma said adding that the same is then presented before the Assembly for supplementary demands and are regularized in the Assembly.

The Chief Minister also informed that available amount of Rs 105 crore corpus of Contingency Funds has already been provided to various departments including PHE, MeECL among others.
