Programmes for school, college students announced
SHILLONG, Nov 10: The Directorate of Dairy Development has announced a slew of programmes for school and college students as part of the National Milk Day 2021 celebrations. According to a statement, a drawing competition is being organised under two categories — for class I-V students on the topic ‘Dairy Products’ and for VI-VIII on the topic ‘Dairy Supply Chain from Farm to Fork’. On the other hand, an essay-writing competition is being organised under three categories — for class VI-VIII students on the topic ‘Milk Man of India’, for class IX-X students on the topic ‘Contribution of Dairy Farming in Socio-economic Development’ and for under-graduates and graduates on the topic ‘Sustainability in Dairy Farming’. A chart paper-size poster-making competition is also being organised under open category on the theme ‘History of Meghalaya in its 50 Year of Statehood with Special Features to Dairy Development’. A video-making competition on the topic ‘Milk Consumption’ is also being organised as part of the National Milk Day 2021 celebrations. “Last date for offline submission of Drawing, Poster and Two-Minute Video-making Competition will be from 15 to 18 November before 4:30 pm to the Office of the Senior Dairy Officer, Shillong, Central Dairy Mawiong,” the statement said. On the other hand, for essay and drawing competitions, participants have been asked to submit their works to [email protected] by 4:30 pm of November 18. Meanwhile, interested participants having queries have been asked to contact 9436334708 or 9402504267 or 7085718879 or 9774917688. “Participants are requested to clearly mention their name, school, phone number along with the submission,” the statement said. A programme will also be held on November 26 during food stalls will be set up, live music will be performed and free distribution of milk will be held.

AR’s motorcycle rally under way
SHILLONG, Nov 10: As part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, a 2284-km-long motorcycle rally from Silchar to Shillong was on November 7 flagged off by Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East) from Silchar, Major General Ranjit Singh. A statement in this regard informed that the motorcycle rally aims to highlight the contribution of Assam Rifles units since Independence in controlling insurgency, guarding the Indo-Myanmar border and undertaking multiple need-based civic action programmes. “The rally plans to touch all the states of the North East en route and will visit Agartala, Aizwal, Aina/Thinghat, Imphal, Kohima, Dimapur, Itanagar, Guwahati before culminating at Shillong. The rally, consisting of 25 bikers during their visit to various prominent cities, towns and villages, will be spreading the message of ‘Unity and Integrity’,” the statement said. Only recently, the Assam Rifles had completed a 3000-km-long cycle rally from Shillong to New Delhi.
