MAWKYRWAT, Nov 10: South West Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner has prohibited use of plastic Tricolours.
“On the occasion of important national, cultural and sports events, flags made of paper should be used by the public and such paper flags are not discarded or thrown on the ground after the event. Such flags are to be disposed of, in private, with the dignity of the flag,” the Deputy Commissioner said in the directive.
She added that since plastic flags are non-biodegradable and do not get decomposed for a long time, flags made of paper should only be used on the occasions of important national, cultural and sports events.
