SHILLONG: The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) of India has already got the reply in relating to the alleged misappropriation of funds in the purchase of CGI sheets amounting to Rs 56 lakh in Pynthorumkhrah constituency.

The BDO of Mylliem C&RD Block, D Hynniewta, in his correspondence to the CAG, has mentioned that the secretary of the Pynthorumkhrah Development Committee (PDC), who had leveled the allegations, has already submitted the actual cash memo.

“The secretary of PDC has submitted the actual cash memo for the amount paid in connection with the purchase of CGI sheets for the year 2006-07, 2007-08 and 2008-09. The Photostat copy of the same and the letter from the PDC secretary are hereby enclosed for favour of your information and disposal,” Hynniewta had stated in his correspondence to the CAG in April 30, 2012.

The district administration on January 18 had registered a case into this controversy and ordered for enquiry under Case number 15 (1) 13 under Sections 403 and 409 of the IPC which was forwarded by the East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police to Sadar Police Station which has endorsed the case for investigation to the Pasteur Beat House, official sources informed here.

When contacted, police sources stated that the matter was under investigation and it would take a while before arriving at ‘any conclusion’.

When contacted, sitting Pynthorumkhrah legislator AL Hek refused to comment on the matter, saying,

“I have already clarified this matter twice before the media with all the proofs. I do not think it is worthwhile to react to such flimsy accusations when my constituency need more of my time.”
