Sukhman wins IGU Shillong Jr Boys Golf C’ship 2021

SHILLONG, Nov 19: After four days of gruelling battle, Uttar Pradesh’s Sukhman Singh emerged victorious in the combined A&B category after a solid final round of three over 73 in the IGU Shillong Junior Boys Golf Championship at the Shillong Golf Course.
The championship was organised by Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society – the State association for Golf in Meghalaya, Shillong Club Ltd. (Golf section) and Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, celebrating 50th Anniversary of Meghalaya Statehood.
Jai Bahal of Haryana, who shot a round of four over 74, finished second while Delhi’s Krishnav Nikhil Chopra carded 75 to win the third place.
One of the favourites of the event, Shat Mishra covered a lot of ground on the final day as he turned at the lowest score of the day, an even par 70 to finish at 4th place and miss the 3rd place title by just one stroke.
Karnataka’s Mahir Rakhra won the Category B title after shooting 79 on the final day while Kaushal K (76) from Karnataka and Maharashtra native Aryaman Singh (82) finished at 2nd and 3rd place respectively
In Category C, Gujarat’s Ansh Jobanputra returned with a final round score of six over 76 to win the title. Noida based Ayan Dubey grabbed the second place with a final round of 78 and Neil Jolly of Mohali took home the second runner title following a round of 84.
Cabinet Minister James K Sangma, Director of Sports and Youth Affairs, WAM Booth, and Vice Chairman of State Housing Board and Executive Committee member of Meghalaya Golf Promoters’ Society, Rocky Hek, handed out the prizes to the winners.
