193 nominations file papers for 60 seats

Kohima: Altogether 193 candidates on Wedneday filed their nomination papers in 12 districts of the state on the last date of filing nominations for the February 23 Nagaland Assembly elections.

Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Jan-e Alam told UNI that a total of 193 nomination papers from the Congress party, Naga Peoples Front, BJP, NCP, RJD, JD (U) and Independent candidates have filed their nominations. However, there may be corrections by late night tonight.

He said party-wise names of the candidates are expected by tonight.

According to information from the district election officers and additional district election officers the nominations submitted at Dimapur are 20, Zunheboto 15, Mokokchung 32, Phek 07, Kohima 26, Dimapur 17, Peren 7, Pughoboto 02, Longleng 12, Kiphire 06, Tuensang 15 and Mon 34. (UNI)
