Sankardev College holds natl webinar

SHILLONG, Dec 11: The department of Sociology, Sankardev College, organised a two-day national webinar from December 9 to 10. Sponsored by ICSSR-NERC, the webinar was held on the theme “Gender and Society in Contemporary India: Issues and Prospects.”
Notably, a good number of research papers on the topic were presented by scholars and academicians from around the country. The two-day event also saw attendees tuning in from different parts of India.
The keynote address in the webinar was delivered by Former Professor of Centre for the Study of Social Systems, School of Social Sciences, JNU, Prof. Maitreyee Chaudhuri. Prominent scholars who also partook in the webinar include Dr. Rekha Shanpliang, Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, NEHU, Shillong, Prof AN Passah, Department of History, NEHU, Shillong, Prof Lucy TV Zehol, Department of Anthropology, NEHU, Shillong, Prof CA Mawlong, Department of History, NEHU, Shillong, Retired Professor, Centre for the Study of Social Systems, School of  Social Sciences, JNU, New Delhi, Dr. Vijayalakshmi Brara, Sociologist, Former Faculty, Manipur University, Dr. Aashita, Assistant Professor, Centre for Women’s Studies, Pondicherry University, Puducherry, Prof. Tiplut Nongbri, and Prof. Ajailiu Niumai, Head, Centre for the Study of Social Exclusion & Inclusive Policy, University of Hyderabad, Telangana.
