TURA, Dec 12: Setting an example for others to follow, GHADC MDCs — Bernard N Marak and Nikman Ch Marak, who is also the Deputy Chief Executive Member — became part of a cleaning drive-cum-awareness programme organised by the Garoland State Movement Committee (GSMC) from Tura at the Tura Super Market under the theme ‘Clean and Green Tura’ and ‘Clean and Green Garo Region’.
Both MDCs took active part in the cleaning drive of the area.
Speaking to the gathering during the awareness programme the MDCs lauded the committee for organising such a programme but said that the people should not wait for such initiatives to be taken either by the government or organisations and instead contribute by doing it themselves. Lamenting that such programmes are not organised more frequently, they urged the people to take the initiative themselves and clean their respective areas regularly.
Leaders of the All Garo HIlls Joint Action Committee (AGHJAC), Balkarin Marak and Roger Benny A Sangma besides members of the GSMC Women’s Group from Williamnagar also participated in the programme.
