Sawkmie unleashes 19-point ‘manifesto’

SHILLONG: Former Mawlai legislator Process T Sawkmie, who is contesting as an Independent from Pynthorumkhrah constituency for the Assembly election on February 23, released his 19-point agenda on Tuesday which he contemplates to take up in the next five years, should he be elected.

The top two agenda include provision of clean and safe drinking water and improvement of transport facilities through construction and widening of roads.

Sawkmie also promised to bring overall development in sports and youth affairs by providing facilities such as indoor and outdoor stadiums and improvement in the health status of the people in the constituency by upgrading the health centres and assistance to traditional medicine practitioners.

Promising to solve the unemployment problems of the youth, Sawkmie has planned to award the meritorious students of the constituency and also tapping those with talents.

Sawkmie also assured encouragement and support to the Self Help Groups (SHGs), families with BPL cards and to implement the schemes related to disabilities, widows and old age pensions.

He also promised to raise and uplift the economic conditions of the people by providing financial assistance for their various activities.

The Independent candidate also promised to maintain communications with different departments of the Government to usher in overall development of the constituency.

Assuring to take all possible steps to maintain peace and security among the different communities of the constituency, Sawkmie said he would follow up with the Government to upgrade Nongmynsong Outpost into a full-fledged police station.

The other promises made by the former Mawlai MLA include transparency in implementation of various schemes and special schemes for the benefit of the farmers.
