SHILLONG, Dec 16: The state government has directed the three Autonomous District Councils to shut down all illegal check gates and has warned of action against those who do not follow the directive.
“We had a meeting with the three CEMs of the district councils and I have informed them that all illegal check gates should be closed. The government will take appropriate action against those who do not do so,” Home Minister, Lahkmen Rymbui said on Thursday.
KHADC CEM, Titosstarwell Chyne said that he has directed his officers to close all the illegal gates.
Chyne also said that a KHADC inspection team has identified the illegal gates that will be shut down.
Asked how many illegal gates have been identified, he said, “I do not have the figures right now but the process is on.”
