SHILLONG: Believing that a hydrogen balloon, placed on the top of MUDA complex at Police Bazar was stolen on Friday morning, the Chief Electoral Office P Naik has decided to file a case against the culprits.

According to Naik, it was to create awareness among the people and to encourage them to vote during the February 23 polls, that the election department had put up massive balloons in different areas of the city with “Vote on 23rd February, 2013” on them.

“We are concerned over the disappearance of the balloon and an FIR with the police is being filed by the concerned authorities to find out who were involved in the crime”, Naik said.

Though there is doubt about the manner in which the balloon disappeared, police believe that someone stole the balloon.
