SHILLONG, Dec 28: The state government is yet to receive an official communication on whether Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will attend the golden jubilee celebration of Meghalaya on January 21 as the chief guest.
Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong on Tuesday reminded that Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma had sent an official invitation to the Prime Minister to attend the golden jubilee celebration of Statehood. “We cannot confirm anything until an official communication comes from the PM’s office,” he said.
Tynsong said that the state government is expecting the Prime Minister to inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations and lay the foundation stone of some key projects in the state.
Asked for details, Tynsong said, “Right now I will not give you all the details. May be in the first part of January, the chief minister himself will give you all the details and even confirm the date when the Prime Minister is arriving.”
The chief minister had earlier said that the government has lined up 50 projects to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister to mark the golden jubilee of Meghalaya’s statehood.
