Left to retain power with good margin in Tripura

Agartala: The ruling Left Front will appear victorious with ‘good’ margin in the recently concluded elections, according to a post-poll review made by CPM state committee.

The CPM state committee, after three days of polling, held a meeting to review the post-poll scenario at party headquarters here on Sunday night.

In the meeting, it was revealed the Left Front will emerge victorious with good margin paving the way for formation of seventh Left Front government.

In the post-poll-review meeting, a threadbare discussion was held on the post-poll violence. The sporadic incidents have already claimed life of Congress worker at Korbook area and left a number of injuries triggering panic in some areas.

The state committee underlined need to maintain peace and tranquility in the days to come. In a press release, it said there should not be any untoward incident which could affect the concentration of board’s examinees. It also laid emphasis on peace even during and after counting process.

The CPM state committee also backed the trade unions’ called 48-hour general strike commencing on February 20 next. The state committee urged the people to join the strike in order to make it a grand success.

The opposition combine- Congress-INPT-NCT will also hold a post-poll review meeting Congress Bhavan here on Tuesday.

All the candidates of the combine were invited to remain present in the meeting. Congress has already expressed grave concern over the growing incidences of post-poll violence.

It also expressed dismay over the role of police the way it is handling the post-poll violence.
